INTEGRATED APPLICATION
Inline Self-Mailer Production
Eliminate Envelopes: Fold, glue, and tab printed sheets into finished self-mailers — no inserting, no envelope stock, no window alignment.
USPS Automation Compliant: Every piece meets current postal automation standards for tabbing, closure, and fold specifications.
Up to 35,000 Pieces/Hour: From tabletop runs to high-volume inline production, scale to match your volume.
Executive Summary
Self-mailers are one of the most cost-effective direct mail formats — they eliminate envelope stock, skip the inserting step entirely, and often qualify for lower postage rates. But producing them in-house requires precise coordination between folding, gluing, perforating, and tabbing — and every piece must meet strict USPS closure and fold requirements or it gets rejected.
Mailtech integrates GMS microglue® folder-gluers with upstream feeders and downstream tabbing and verification equipment to build complete self-mailer production lines. The system starts with a friction feeder pulling flat printed sheets from a stack, feeds them into a GMS microgluer® or micromailer® that folds, applies glue in programmable dot, line, or stitch patterns, and adds micro-perforations for easy opening. Downstream, a Buskro or Ameritek tabber applies closure tabs to meet USPS requirements, and an optional Lake Image camera verifies addressing and barcode integrity before the finished pieces hit the mail stream.
Key Advantages
Single-Pass Production: Feed a flat sheet in one end, get a finished, tabbed, glued self-mailer out the other — no manual handling between steps.
Lower Cost Per Piece: No envelope stock, no inserting labor, no window alignment. Self-mailers cut material and labor costs significantly versus traditional envelope mailings.
Programmable Glue Patterns: GMS's patented speed compensation ensures consistent dot, line, or stitch patterns regardless of line speed — no open mailers, no postal rejections.
Format Flexibility: Half-fold, letter-fold, Z-fold, double parallel — switch between formats with simple fold plate adjustments. The microgluerXA® adds automated fold plate positioning for even faster changeovers.
Scalable from Tabletop to Inline: Start with a GMS microgluer® for short runs. Scale to the micromailer® with integrated 20" feeder for high-volume production at 25,000–35,000 pieces per hour.
How It Works
FEED: A friction feeder pulls flat printed sheets from the stack and feeds them inline at production speed.
FOLD & GLUE: The GMS microgluer® or micromailer® folds each sheet, applies glue in programmable dot, line, or stitch patterns, and adds micro-perforations for clean, easy opening.
TAB & FINISH: A Buskro or Ameritek tabber applies USPS-compliant closure tabs — with optional Lake Image verification of address and barcode integrity — leaving a finished, mail-ready self-mailer.

Our systems produce half-fold, letter-fold, and Z-fold self-mailers — folded, glued, tabbed, and USPS-compliant in a single pass.
